Dear Friends and supporters of NY2Dance

It's July 1st and we are on our way to the fifth country and sixth city of Dancing Around The World. We just finished editing a short video of our experience in Santiago that I would like to share with you here. Our stay in Santiago was different, we took some time off to rest and explored the city on our terms. We did not organize any workshops or performances. While exploring, we encountered lot's of free roaming friendly dogs, busy people, everyday student demonstrations and beautiful landscapes surrounding the city. It was winter in Santiago and the weather was a little chill. I loved the beautiful parks and the majestic mountains surrounding the city. Interestingly, the city reminded me more of Germany than any other cities we visited in Latin America. We are currently in San Salvador getting ready to leave for Tegucigalpa next. We have been on tour since April 12th and I have taught workshops in four cities and performed in Medellin, San Salvador and Lima. We have shared with you our experiences of Bogota, Medellin and Lima virtually and now happy to share with you Dancing Around The World - Santiago.
During our stay in San Salvador the last two weeks we performed What Dreams May Come at the National Theater to a moving audience. During our stay I also taught daily workshops of Contemporary Dance as part of Dancing Around The World - San Salvador in the National School of Dance. Throughout the workshop we also created a spite specific scene which was performed and filmed in the new public transportation system and the Plaza del Mundo. The people I have encountered were all so beautiful and passionate. It was amazingly inspiring to teach and interact with people who have to deal with daily gang violence and the corrupt political situation but still manage to be so creative, eager for knowledge and passionate for life. We are excited to share San Salvador in our next newsletter.
I feel so blessed to be able to travel around the world and share my passion of the art of moving and dancing and not just on site but also share these mini films with you virtually. What an inspiring way to get an insight into a culture and share your passion through movement!!! The performance of Dreams May Come was very special: people were filled with tears after the show. It was so rewarding to see how moved and inspired the audience was, but mostly it was a very rich experience working intimately with local dancers and seeing how much closer they got to their inner beings and how their senses sharpened throughout the process.
We are looking forward to sharing with you our San Salvador experience next. It's been a moving experience so far.
