Dancing Around The World -Medellin
Monday, May 25th, 2015Dear Friends and supporters of NY2Dance
It is Memorial day and Enki Andrews and I are on our way to the third country and fourth city of Dancing Around the World. We just finished editing a short video of our experience in Medellin that I would like to share with you above. During our stay in Medellin I gave a workshop to local dancers exploring different sites in the city as well as I was guest performing with Danza Concierto at the Teatro Metropolitano. It was a very moving experience working intimately with local dancers and guest performing with Peter Palacio who is one of the fathers of Contemporary Dance in Medellin, Colombia. During my stay I got to engage with the art forms of two great pioneers of Colombian art: Gabriel GarciÂa Marquez, which Peter Palacio created a new dance based on Gabriel's book "Love In The Time Of Cholera" and I was creating small dance scenes in the Plaza De Botero to the beautiful sculptures of Fernando Botero which you can see in the attached video filmed and edited by Enki Andrews.

We are now in Lima on our way to Santiago. In my next newsletter I will share with you our experience in Lima. I feel so blessed to be able to go around the world and share my passion of the art of moving and dancing with the world and not just on site but also on the world wide web through these mini films. What an amazing way to get an insight into a culture and share your passion through movement!!!
During our residency in Medellin, we were hosted by Danza Concierto, Municipio De Medellin and Secretaria de Cultura Cuidadana. We are eager to share with you our Lima video next. It's been a delicious experience so far.
