Bob Novak (Composer)
Bob Novak is a Baltimore-based musician, composer, and world percussionist. He has played percussion with a number of orchestras including the Baltimore Opera Company, Richmond Symphony, the Maryland Symphony, and Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. Bob has studied with master percussionists Glen Velez, Jonathan Haas, and William Moersch. While receiving both his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Peabody Conservatory, Mr. Novak became interested in both contemporary and electronically composed music.  He has performed works by composers Gunther Schuller, John Cage, Tan Dun, Iannis Xenakis, William Kraft, and Milton Babbitt. Bob is an accompanist in the Department of Dance at the University of Maryland.  He composes for modern dance and his most recent projects include a sound score for the late Ed Tyler's work, Blind Spot, and a performance on a Moog Modular Synthesizer for the Bang On A Can Marathon.  His compositions are electronically composed and utilize percussion, ambient, and manipulated sound.  In addition to his work as a free-lance musician, Bob has taught at Morgan State University and has presented master classes and workshops in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. area.  More information can be found on his website at www.bobnovakmusic.com.
