Shay Bares began his dance training at the age of 9 in Beaumont, TX. and continued his training in Tyler, TX. at the School of Ballet Tyler under the direction of Kym Lanier. He has been a guest dancer for companies in New York, New Jersey, Mississippi and Louisiana and has won overall awards at regional and national competitions for both his dancing and choreography. In 2008 Shay was awarded a scholarship to the Alvin Ailey School of Modern Dance in New York City. He returned to Texas in the spring of 2009 and was appointed the Artistic Director and Choreographer of Ballet Tyler. Shay has since danced as an apprentice with The Steven Petronio Company in New York City, was selected by choreographer Igal Perry to be one of six dancers to perform in a hip hop and contemporary show in Tokyo, Japan, danced as a company member with Ballet San Antonio in San Antonio TX & danced with Basaraan dance works, a contemporary dance company in New York City.
